Yes, It’s Jam First!

Before we get into where to enjoy your Cornish cream tea, you need to know how! In Cornwall, the order of assembly is non-negotiable: Jam first, then cream. The logic? The jam spreads beautifully over a warm scone, and the cool, thick cream sits proudly on top like winter snow caps. Anything else is, well… best left to Devon.

Okay so now we have that covered…

1. The Seaside Cream Tea

Where:

- Island View Café, Looe

- The Ugly Butterfly, Newquay

Few things embody Cornwall like a winter cream tea beside the sea. Think panoramic windows and stormy waves while you sit safe inside with warm scones.

2. The Cosy Village Cream Tea

Where:

- Woods Café, Bodmin

- Cowslip Café, Launceston

Winter is when Cornish villages truly shine- quiet harbours, twinkling lights, and narrow streets perfect for ducking into a warm tearoom.

3. The Heritage Cream Tea

Where:

- Glendurgan Café, Glendurgan Garden (Falmouth)

- The Edgcumbe Tea Room, Cotehele (Saltash)

Historic Cornwall pairs beautifully with traditional cream teas. Enjoy a day exploring some of Cornwall’s many historic sites followed by a re-fuelling cream tea!

4. The Luxury Cream Tea

Where:

- The Greenbank Hotel, Falmouth

- Carbis Bay Hotel, St Ives

For something extra indulgent, Cornwall’s hotel lounges offer plush dining rooms and elegantly presented cream teas.
