Porthcurno, translated from Cornish as ‘Bay of Cornwall', is a tiny village located in the far west of the county. It’s no surprise that this beautiful village is considered one of the most visually stunning locations in the UK. It has a beautiful beach and truly stunning coastline. Porthcurno is full of history too, from its famous Telegraph Museum, to its cliff face theatre, the Minack!

Porthcurno Beach

Parking: Cornwall Council Long Stay Pay and Display Car Park

Porthcurno Beach is a National Trust beach that is lifeguarded from May to September. The cliffs and coastline are recognised as areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Its’ beach is white, sandy and soft. On a hot summer’s day, you could be mistaken for being abroad!

The deep and inviting ocean may be on the chilly side due to the beach being on the far west coast of Cornwall, however it looks beautiful when the sun hits it! It turns the the sea shore a beautiful turquoise blue. 

Dogs are allowed on this beach, except for between 10am – 6pm from 1st July to 31st August.

Telegraph Museum

Parking: Museum’s car park - £6.50 for the day (Present parking ticket at the museum to receive a £2.50 refund when you spend £5.00 or more on museum admission)

Opening times: 10:30 – 16:00

Prices: Adults £9, Under 18s £5.50 (under 5s FREE), Family £26 (2 adults & up to 3 children), Senior £8, Student £8.

Minack Theatre

 Postcode: TR19 6JU 

Parking: A large car park is free for visitors to the theatre and performance ticket holders 

Opening times: April – October: 9:30 – 17:00 daily (apart from during ticketed matinee performances and children’s story telling performances)

Prices:
Just visiting – Adults: £6, Children (12-15): £3, Children (2-11): £1.
Theatre Prices – Dependant on performance, seating and whether it is a matinee or evening performance.

 The Minack is an open-air theatre located on the cliff side of Porthcurno, with spectacular unspoilt views overlooking Porthcurno Bay. It was designed by Rowena Cade after the First World War. You can learn more about Rowena’s story in the theatre’s Visitor Centre. 

The Minack has a capacity of 750 people. It’s been used as a location for a vast number of plays, musicals and opera. In more recent years, the theatre has also introduced a wider variety of performances to their list of events. These include stand-up comedy, ballet and even aerial circus performances.  

Performances at the Minack are rarely cancelled due to weather conditions. They go ahead rain or shine! Remember to dress appropriately for the weather conditions if you’re planning on visiting the cliff top theatre!
