At the northern end of The Lizard peninsula in West Cornwall, our holiday chalets in Helston are in a town famed for its annual medieval Furry Dance (Flora Dance to the locals), well positioned just 12 miles from Penzance and 9 miles from Falmouth and in a wonderful position for enjoying the stunning Lizard Peninsula.
Head out from your self-catering holiday chalet in Helston for the day to enjoy the second oldest town in Cornwall where tales of Saxons go back to the 6th century and a charter was granted to the town in 1201. History since then has seen the town prosper as a tin mine and relics of Helston’s dramatic past can be found all around town – as can they be found throughout the Lizard Peninsula.
From your chalet in Helston you may well want to visit the Helston Museum full of historic memories, follow the Helston Town Trail from the Guildhall to learn even more, explore the National Trust Penrose Estate on foot or bicycle, or take a ride on the Helston Railway – an ongoing steamy restoration project. The town also has all the conveniences you need on holiday including two grocery stores and a petrol station.
We’ve found a marvelous selection of chalets for you in Helston and our holiday lettings here make an ideal base for exploring the rich local culture and history, or heading out to other nearby attractions and beaches, including the famous Cornwall surf break at Porthleven, and the beaches at Gunwalloe, Poldhu Cove and Mullion Cove – to name but a few! From here, you’re also only an easy 40 minute drive from Land’s End and all that lies in between.
