Truro is Cornwall's capital city and is a historic market town with a large cathedral. The city is surrounded by a number of protected natural areas such as the historic parklands at Pencalenick and areas of ornamental landscape further down the Truro River namely Trelissick Garden and Tregothnan. An area south-east of the city has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Truro has an extensive shopping centre and a large theatre, the Hall for Cornwall, with a varied programme of drama and touring shows. A regular ferry service runs from Truro to Falmouth or St. Mawes during the summer months or visit the Roseland Peninsula via the King Harry Ferry at Feock, a mile or so from Truro. Truro offers an ever expanding range of eating and drinking experiences, making it one of the best gourmet destinations in Cornwall.
